In the research area of culinary arts and meal science, a five-aspect model is used, the five aspects being: the room, the encounter, the product, the management system, and the atmosphere. This field study looks at the restaurant room and women´s inclusion in it. How is a single woman treated? Is she guaranteed a seat? Where will she be given a seat? What is the service like? How does the staff act? How do other guests act and how do we ourselves react when dining at restaurants? We also made an international survey and found that the phenomenon of ?solo dining? was frequently discussed, with regard to both men and women.
