Research subject

Is it possible to predict the form of political regime in newly established states based on information regarding the processes that led to the formation of the state? This project studies the connection between state-formation and democratization in new states. The project has three objectives: a) to develop the first comparative database on state-formation in modern times, b) present the first classification of state-formations in modern times at a global level, and c) present the first comparative model on the connections between state-formation and democratization in new states created in modern times. The aim is to increase our understanding of the relations between two fundamental processes in political life: state-formation and democratization.
