Research subject

This project investigates the conditions and challenges for developing social scientific expertise for transformative change. The context is the growing severity of the current environmental situation. This has made that both researchers and decision-makers increasingly emphasize the importance of transformative change. But how scientific expertise can and should provide guidance in this work raises fundamental epistemic, institutional, political, and normative questions. The project will integrate findings from different research areas and explore visions, barriers and opportunities for developing this type of social science expertise. The project studies two global environmental challenges: climate change and biodiversity.
