Project information
Camilla Börjesson has been a doctoral student since 2023 in Disability and Society at the Department of Health Sciences and is part of the research school Nära vård ("Close Care"), a collaboration between Örebro University, Dalarna University, Jönköping University, and Linköping University.
Camilla is a municipal doctoral student at 50%, made possible through a collaboration between Region Örebro County, the municipalities in the county, and Örebro University, aiming to increase academic engagement in a municipal context.
She has a background as a specialist nurse in palliative care and has extensive experience in both specialized and general palliative care. Camilla also has experience working with palliative care in West Africa. Within Örebro Municipality, she works 50% with education and support in palliative care for staff in healthcare and social services, as well as staff in disability services.
The purpose of the dissertation project is to gain increased knowledge about opportunities for participation for people with intellectual disabilities who are in need of palliative care. The goal of the research is to develop an intervention to enhance participation for individuals with intellectual disabilities in need of palliative care.
