Triboconditioning CG - low-friction treatment of gears

This project has shown how Triboconditioning CG, a mechanochemical surface treatment developed by Tribonex (Former: ANS), can contribute to overcoming the challenges faced by the next generation of EV transmissions. In this feasibility study, the advantages in sliding/rolling contact were demonstrated with rig testing, where two versions of the surface treatment were evaluated. One of the versions almost eliminated micro pitting and the wear was reduced by more than 80% compared to ground surfaces in steel-steel contact. The results indicate that Triboconditioning CG has the potential for increasing energy efficiency in EV transmissions, by reducing friction losses and taking steps toward increase mileage and increased lifetime for gears.
