This study develops knowledge about how preschool teachers working at family centres and open preschools support children's (multi)lingual development within the educational setting. Furthermore, it explores the meaning of an intercultural approach and collaboration with guardians in the work of supporting children's (multi)lingual development in these contexts. The project views the family centre and open preschool as having potential to serve as meeting places for language development and cooperation with families.
The study addresses the following questions:
- How can preschool teachers’ work with language development and collaboration with guardians at family centres/open preschools serve as a bridge to regular preschool education?
- What core content in activities related to language and collaboration could support children and guardians in the transition to mainstream preschool?
