Fetal stress and iron metabolism
About this project
Project information
In collaboration with Lund University, umbilical cord blood samples associated with the preeclampsia study mentioned above will be used to study fetal iron metabolism. Preeclampsia exposes the fetus to a type of chronic stress, and stress affects iron metabolism. Stress also affects the newborn in a sex-specific way and this study aims to increase our knowledge of mechanisms behind neonatal sex differences in stress response and iron metabolism.
