Comparison of the importance of preservation methods for protein expression in the human placenta

The placenta samples in the large placenta sample collection at Örebro University Hospital are stored frozen in RNAlater. This is an excellent preservation medium for RNA analyses, but whether it also works well for protein analyses is incompletely known. We have therefore collected new placenta samples that have been stored both snap frozen and in RNAlater and compared these preservation methods regarding performance of immunohistochemical and other protein analyses.
