About the Project

The FAIRTAX project addresses the concept of fairness in taxation within an increasingly digitalised society. The research explores the relationship between contemporary tax systems and fairness as a multidimensional concept, with particular emphasis on how digital transformation impacts both substantive and procedural dimensions of taxation. The project aims to map the meaning of fairness as a general principle of tax law and develop concrete reform proposals for a fairer tax framework adapted to the modern digital environment.

Principal Investigator: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stjepan Gad?o, University of Rijeka, Faculty of Law, and affiliated researcher Örebro University.

Örebro University and the Research Environment Law, Digitalisation and AI

The FAIRTAX project is linked to the research environment Law, Digitalisation and AI at Örebro University. The project's innovative focus on how digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and new technologies affect tax systems and taxpayers' rights aligns closely with this research environment's core themes.
