Civics (or Social Studies) is a multidisciplinary subject with its base in the following academic disciplines: economics, human geography, political science and sociology. Civics is a subject included in various teacher training programmes and the research in this field focuses different aspects of teaching and learning in primary and secondary schools. Ongoing research deals with the effects on schools and teachers of national tests, students' knowledge in civics and teachers' grading.
