Collaboration for Implementation of Innovations in Healthcare (SIISH)

SIISH is a national initiative that aims to close the gap between research and real-world use in healthcare. At Örebro University, we contribute by supporting researchers and innovators in turning promising ideas into solutions that can be implemented in practice.

Promising healthcare innovations often fail – not because they lack quality, but because they are difficult to implement in practice.

At Örebro University, we are part of SIISH (Collaboration for Implementation of Innovations in Healthcare), a national initiative funded by Swelife. The initiative addresses a well-known challenge: Sweden produces strong research and innovation, but many solutions never reach patients or healthcare professionals. They get stuck between research, pilot testing and real-world use.

In SIISH, universities, regions and incubators work together to remove these barriers. This includes challenges related to regulation, policy, financing and coordination. The goal is to create better conditions for implementing new methods and technologies in healthcare – in a more structured and efficient way.

The work now continues in SIISH 2.0, with a stronger focus on precision medicine. Here, the ambition is to move from insight to action by developing practical approaches, strengthening national coordination and working with real cases where innovations are tested and implemented.

How we can support you

Through Örebro University’s Innovation Office, we support researchers and innovators who want to take ideas further towards implementation in healthcare. For example, we can help you to:

  • explore and develop your idea
  • understand pathways to implementation
  • navigate regulatory and organisational requirements
  • connect with relevant partners in healthcare and industry

If you are working with research or innovation in precision medicine – or implementation in healthcare – you are welcome to contact us.
