About Dimitri Beeckman

Dimitri Beeckman is Professor of Nursing Science at Örebro University in Sweden and Ghent University in Belgium. As Pro Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation at Örebro University, he leads the university’s strategic work on internationalisation and plays a leading role in the NEOLAiA European University Alliance, in which Örebro University is one of nine partner institutions.

At Ghent University, he is Programme Director of the Master’s Programme in Nursing and Midwifery. The programme prepares nurses and midwives for the future of healthcare, with specialisations in areas including advanced clinical nursing, implementation science and research.

He also holds academic appointments at the University of Southern Denmark, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Monash University in Australia. His research focuses on skin integrity and wound care, clinical studies, psychometrics, implementation science, health economics and value-based healthcare.

Professor Beeckman is Scientific Coordinator of the Swedish Centre for Skin and Wound Research (SCENTR) at Örebro University and leads the Skin Integrity Research Group (SKINT) at Ghent University. He is a Past President of the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (EPUAP) and the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel (ISTAP). He currently serves as President of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA), a European umbrella organisation bringing together national wound care organisations, researchers, clinicians and other stakeholders in wound care.

Professor Beeckman has published more than 230 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has made significant contributions to research in nursing science, skin integrity and wound care. He holds editorial positions with several international scientific journals and is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Nursing Studies (IJNS), one of the leading international journals in nursing research.

He is a Fellow of the European Academy of Nursing Science (FEANS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN).
