About Maria Wingren

Maria (Mia) Wingren, registered occupational therapist, Ph.D. in Medical Science, and Senior Lecturer in the Occupational Therapy Program at the Department of Health Sciences. Mia’s research interests include occupational therapy and time management for individuals with cognitive impairments, such as those related to ADHD, autism, or mental disorders. She has previous professional experience as an occupational therapist in vocational rehabilitation, focusing on return-to-work, in collaboration with various rehabilitation stakeholders.

Research 

Mias research interest involve the intervention Let's Get Organized ("Ha koll" in Swedish). Let's Get Organized is an occupational therapy group intervention aiming at improving time management, planning, and organization in daily life. Her current research project focuses on evaluating whether Let's Get Organized is a cost-effective intervention in a health economic analysis.

Her doctoral thesis included a randomized controlled trial on Let's Get Organized and individual occupational therapy, a long-term follow-up of Let's Get Organized 12 months after the intervention, a quantitative study focusing on time management and parental self-efficacy, and a qualitative study exploring parents’ experiences of parenting and family life after participating in Let's Get Organized .

Teaching

Mia is a Senior Lecturer in the Occupational Therapy Program, where she is involved in teaching and course coordination at both undergraduate and advanced levels, including courses such as Occupational Therapy, vocational rehabilitation and Occupational Therapy, Advanced Level: Occupational Therapy for Individuals with Cognitive Impairments. She has a background in vocational rehabilitation, where she collaborated with various stakeholders to conduct work ability assessments and provide support for return-to-work. Mia also serves as the internationalization coordinator for the Occupational Therapy Program.
