Research subject

The overarching research avenue concerns the effects of lifestyle behaviors with a focus on physical activity and dietary habits on health outcomes throughout life.

Primary prevention is about preventing disease before it occurs, as opposed to efforts aimed at treating manifest disease states. The research focuses on eating and exercise habits from several perspectives – medical, physiological, psychological and social, depicting the impact of lifestyle habits on risk factors for the development of diseases such as diabetes taking into account gender, ethnicity and socioeconomic status.

The research group is also involved in implementation of prevention models to promote healthy eating and exercise habits using digital tools. The research is interdisciplinary and involves researchers in nutrition and physical activity epidemiology, physiology, molecular biology, psychology and health economics.

Research projects often take place in collaboration with actors at regional and municipal level, such as primary care, and are conducted in collaboration with national and international research groups.
