About Maria Hälleberg-Nyman

Maria Hälleberg Nyman is a RN (1991), PhD in nursing (2012) and associate professor (2020).

Teaching

Maria is a supervisor to five doctoral students.

Research focus and ongoing projects

Marias thesis was on "Urinary catheter policies for short-term bladder drainage in hip surgery patients".
Knowledge utilization and implementation is one of Marias research areas. 2014-2015 Maria was post doc with Ann Catrine Eldh at Karolinska institutet in a project called "OPTION- Onset PrevenTion of urinary Incontinence in Orthopaedic Nursing and rehabilitation". Maria is now the PI for the project Onset PrevenTIon of urinary retention in Orthopaedic Nursing and rehabilitation, OPTION - a knowledge implementation study on a facilitating strategy for multi-professional clinical champion teams financed by FORTE. Maria runs the project, which is a multicenter study, together with Ann Catrine Eldh (LiU), Eva Joelsson-Alm (KI) and Per Wretenberg.

Maria also participates in the projects: How crooked do I really see? Subjective and objective improvement after epiretinal membrane surgery, Perioperative routines and complications after saphenous vein graft harvesting during coronary arterial surgery and Dignity conserving care for older persons with palliative care needs.
