The research group focuses on pedagogical work concerning children's human rights in preschool and primary school. The group's research explores how rights-promoting approaches are implemented in educational activities and how the educational environment can reinforce rights. Additionally, the researchers examine how the education of children about, for and through human rights is organised. Moreover, after-school care and education is studied as a rights arena, viewed through a rights perspective on teaching, learning, and the organisation of education. Rights education in the adapted school (for children with intellectual disabilities) is also examined from a teacher’s perspective.
The members of the research group are active in the European research network 'Research in Children's Rights in Education,' which meets annually at the ECER conference. Quennerstedt leads this network.
The group currently works on two projects:
- Children’s human rights in education of students in the adapted school
- After-school care and education as an arena for rights
