The Swedish Sport Confederation's Handling of the Corona Pandemic

The Swedish Sports Confederation (RF) is an umbrella organisation that brings together 71 Special Sports Federations, 19 RF-SISU Districts and distributes the state’s annual support to sports. During the 2020–21 coronavirus pandemic, the Swedish sports movement received almost 3.5 billion SEK in extra support via RF. The corona virus pandemic affected the Swedish sports movement in various ways and forced the management within the Swedish Sports Confederation to make quick decisions based on constantly changing premises. This project consists of a qualitative study and is based on interviews with representatives who, during the pandemic, had leading roles within RF. The aim is to provide a knowledge contribution about the assumptions and strategic considerations that were made by these representatives during the pandemic - and what lessons can be learned from this today.
