Social work without borders: Forced migration, older refugees and displacement
About this project
Project information
The number of refugees worldwide has never been higher than now. As the world faces growing threats from climate change, more frequent extreme weather events, political anxiety and external aggression and health-related crises including pandemics, cases of forced migration are on the rise. Older refugees are among the most vulnerable groups of refugees. The limited research that focuses on displaced older refugees mainly concerns psychosocial- and health factors and, in turn, individualistic interpretations and solutions, rather than structural, systemic, and global solutions. The project examines the role of social work and community actors engaging in front-line practices for older refugees.
