COAST PFAS is a collaborative research project that brings together academia, public authorities, municipalities, and industry to reduce PFAS emissions to coastal waters. The project develops and demonstrates cost-effective methods for identifying, concentrating, and destroying PFAS at the source, while supporting sustainable water management through environmental systems analysis and decision-support tools.
At Örebro University, research focuses on the work package PFAS Flows from Land to Sea, which aims to identify, map, and quantify PFAS sources and transport pathways in urban water systems and coastal environments. This includes targeted and non-targeted PFAS analysis, source tracking, and the development of PFAS fingerprints and mass-balance approaches.
