Research subject

Sport has a double-edged relationship with the media. Increased exposure strengthens visibility and commercial appeal but can also quickly turn events into public crises. This project examines, through a case study method, sports organisations’ preparation for media crisis management. The first case analyses the Swedish Ice Hockey Association’s crisis following allegations of sexual harassment by a senior federation leader in 2020, as well as the Norwegian Ski Federation’s crisis following allegations of cheating in ski jumping during the 2025 World Championships.
