Music Traditions of the Middle East II, 7.5 Credits

In this course we delve deeper into the musical traditions of the Middle East, for example in regional and ethnic differences. You gain in-depth knowledge of scales, form types and improvisation patterns, as well as theoretical and practical knowledge of how different musical traditions in the Middle East influence each other and are influenced by the encounter with musical traditions from the rest of the world. The course ends with a concert where we perform the course's repertoire in our own arrangements that we have worked on together.
