Relations Matter: Music Education Research Beyond the Self

In the article they argue for a critical perspective that draws attention to how power relations are shaped through the positioning of different social groups in relation to structural conditions. With a particular focus on social class, they argue that research must examine how power, norms and cultural values are maintained and reinforced by elites, privileged groups as well as marginalized groups.
