The project focuses on issues that concern the regulatory aspects of inflammasome functionality. We aim to describe the biology of the inflammasome as a dynamic process and not as an on / off relationship. We see advanced microscopic technology linked to mass spectrometry as a promising way forward in our challenge to describe the biology of inflammasomes in detail. The project also includes collaboration with several industrial partners, among them the pharmaceutical industry, where we are currently involved in evaluating so-called discovery compounds designed to regulate the function of the inflammasome.
