The Swedish dansband culture: participation, social norms and power relations

The project aims to illustrate power relations within the culture by examining conditions of participation, normative structures, and the place of music within the cultural context. Through field observations at the three largest dance events in the scene alongside interviews with participants, the project seeks to develop a nuanced understanding of a dance and music culture that has previously been underrepresented in musicological research.
