Titel: "Understanding the World for Robust Robot Navigation in the Wild"

Abstrakt: People and animals can travel vast distances across complex environments, navigating using their understanding and recollection of the natural world around them. In this talk, we ask the question: how can robots perceive, understand, and remember the world so that they too can navigate with confidence in large, complex, and uncontrolled environments? We will present the history of how robots learn about and interpret information they collect about their surroundings, and discuss some of the questions and challenges that still must be solved to achieve wild robot navigation.
