Om John Hennessey
John Hennessey är universitetslektor i historia vid Örebro universitet. Han är även sedan 2023 docent i idé- och lärdomshistoria (Lunds universitet). Han är utbildad som historiker och hans främsta intresseområden inkluderar kolonialhistoria sedan 1850, Japans moderna historia, transnationell och transimperialhistoria, propaganda och folkligt stöd för imperialism. Hans nuvarande forskningsprojekt, vilket finansieras av Vetenskapsrådet, undersöker klassificeringen av Ainufolket (ett ursprungsfolk från Hokkaido och närliggande områden) i västerländsk rasbiologi cirka 1850-1940 samt vad detta visar om samtida västerländska syn på "vithet".
