Research subject

In order to better understand why children are affected differently by having a parent in prison, what more precisely  poses the risk to them and what society needs to do to support them, this study aims at increasing understanding of young people's experience of having one or both parents in prison during their childhood and how it affects the relationship with the parent. It focuses on the development of the child-parent relationship over time.

The project's data consists of semistructured interviews with children between the ages of 15 and 20 who have or have had a parent in prison and with parents who are or have been in prison.
