Criminal behavior has serious consequences for both individuals and society, including economic costs as well as human suffering for victims and their families.
Our research group focuses on understanding how criminal behavior develops over time and the factors that influence it. We study risk and protective factors at both the individual level and across generations, with particular emphasis on early childhood problems, juvenile delinquency, and antisocial and aggressive behavior. We also examine both the short- and long-term consequences of these behaviors.
To address complex research questions, we utilize population-based Swedish register data as well as family-based designs. Genetically informative designs are employed to investigate genetic and environmental influences on behavior, with a particular focus on criminality.
