The transition from upper secondary school to adulthood is particularly challenging for young people with intellectual disabilities, who often have limited access to employment and support. Research shows that this transition is marked by uncertainty but can be facilitated through joint planning. However, in Sweden there is a lack of studies on how the process is experienced.
This study evaluates the approach “All the Way to the Future,” developed in Örebro. It aims to prepare students in special education for adult life through structured conversations, information sessions, and follow-ups. The purpose of the study is to qualitatively examine the initial outcomes and how the approach is experienced by students, relatives, and professional actors.
