Docenturföreläsning
15 september 2026 12:15 – 13:00 Hörsal X1, Campus USÖ eller zoom Öppet för alla
The newly appointed Associate Professor at the School of Medical Sciences, Alexander Hedbrant, is giving his inaugural lecture titled ¨Respirable crystalline silica dust: Novel research on an occupational hazard since ancient times¨.
Alexander Hedbrant is a Docent in Medical Science with a specialization in Biomedicine at Örebro University, Sweden.
Alexanders research focus on understanding how occupational exposures, mainly inhaled particles, affect the lungs, and biological systems such as inflammation, to cause disease. Ongoing studies examine for example how occupational crystalline silica dust affect biomarkers in exhaled breath samples, and if nanoparticle exposures in industrial metal 3D-printing is a cause of concern for the workers health.
The goal is to contribute with a better understanding of the exposures per se and the toxicological mechanism they induce, and to detect early signs of harmful exposure, before development of chronic disease.
Språk: The lecture will be held in English.
