Om Petter Danckwardt
I am a doctoral candidate in international law at Örebro University. My PhD thesis is on the domestic and international legal effects of international recognition of governments. With this research, my aim is to explain the meaning of recognition in international law and to resolve some of the conceptual issues that come with understanding how recognition works and how theories and practices of recognition can presuppose that the things to be recognized have become recognizable in the first place.
Previously, between 2018 and 2020, I worked as an associate lecturer (universitetsadjunkt) at Uppsala University. In Uppsala, I taught international law, constitutional law, EU law, comparative constitutional law and legal methodology. Before coming to Uppsala, I worked as a law clerk at Södertörn District Court. In 2016, I worked as a desk officer at the Department for International Law, Human Rights and Treaty Law (UD FMR) at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. At the MFA, I worked mainly on issues relating to international humanitarian law and international criminal law. In 2015, I worked as a trainee at the Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C. In 2014 I was a research assistant to Professor Pål Wrange at Stockholm University. Besides having been awarded Master of Laws in international law (Stockholm University) I have also obtained a Bachelor's degree in political philosophy (Södertörn University).
