Om Rajesh Vinayak Patil
Rajesh Patil joined Örebro University as an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Natural Sciences and Engineering. He has extensive experience in both academic and industry-related research, with core competencies in artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, advanced manufacturing, image processing and vehicle safety.
Rajesh holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on autonomous techniques for multi-class weld imperfections idetection and classification. He also holds a Master's degree in Mechatronics and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Before joining Örebro University, Rajesh led industry collaborative research projects, wrote peer-reviewed publications and international book chapters, and held patents. He has played a pivotal role in coordinating industry internships and career development programs, facilitating the placement of hundreds of students and creating partnerships with leading multinational companies.
In addition to his research and teaching responsibilities, he actively contributes to research mentoring, international academic collaborations, and serves as a reviewer for reputable international journals.
Rajesh's long-term vision is to contribute to the development of intelligent, connected and sustainable manufacturing ecosystems, in line with Industry 5.0 and the goals of digital transformation.
