Yousef is a Biträdande Lektor (Assistant Professor) of Statistics at the Örebro University School of Business. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Lund University in 2024. Prior to joining Örebro University, Yousef was an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Liverpool Management School.

Yousef's primary research focuses on designing methods that are accessible to empirical researchers. For example, he has worked on structural break estimators, which are useful for detecting natural shifts that can occur in economic relationships. His broader research interests lie in Econometrics, with specializations in machine learning, panel data, large factor models, regularization techniques, clustering/grouping, and structural breaks. Yousef applies these statistical methods primarily in the fields of finance and macroeconomics.
