The silent violence

Behind closed doors and behind screens, forms of violence are taking place that are rarely seen but that affect many. Psychological, technological and economic violence in close relationships is often difficult to detect, report and prove, but leaves deep traces in people's lives. We call it "silent violence". A particular focus is on processes in violence, i.e. making visible the patterns of violence over time, which can start with seemingly innocent comments, continue with more serious violations and also worsen after a relationship has ended. Here we face challenges that society has not yet been able to fully deal with: from digital harassment, financial control, persecution and more subtle but harmful forms of psychological pressure.
