Juridical Studies of Violence conducts research on violence within a primarily jurisprudential and legal framework, encompassing digital, economic, and psychological forms of violence. The research is explicitly intersectional and employs multiple analytical perspectives on legal protection and enforcement mechanisms, with the overarching aim of generating new knowledge on access to justice and effective remedies for victims of violence.

By applying AI-supported methods, the research advances methodological approaches in legal scholarship and the social sciences. These methods support legal foresight by modelling complex systems, enabling analysis of how violence may emerge, be prevented, or mitigated, and by identifying potential protective and remedial legal responses.

Given the often transnational nature of violence, the research also examines regional and global regulatory frameworks, international legal obligations, and the implications for state sovereignty. Accordingly, the research conducted at the Law Faculty (Juridicum) situates Swedish law within broader international and comparative contexts.

The overall aim of the research is to identify, evaluate, and strengthen legal protections that can be applied in practice, while also exposing gaps and shortcomings in both Swedish and international legal frameworks. Through interdisciplinary methods and innovative analytical tools, the research group seeks to improve understanding of the legal consequences of policy and adjudicative choices and to contribute to the development of more effective systems of legal protection.
