The Center for Applied Autonomous Sensor Systems (AASS), founded in 1998, is a strong research environment which performs research on autonomous systems, with a focus on their perceptual and cognitive capabilities. The center is internationally known for its expertise within artificial intelligence and robotics, and their integration. It has a strong tradition of working together in close collaboration with industrial partners in Sweden and around the world.
SEK 4 million for research on more human-centred artificial intelligence
Working together with robots and AI systems in the future will need to be more proactive and human-centred. This is the goal of Professor Alessandro Saffiotti’s research project, which has received SEK 4 million in funding from the Swedish Research...
Silicon Valley next stop for Ravi’s innovation: “It feels amazing’”
Silicon Valley has made a name for itself as the breeding ground for world-renowned tech companies like Apple, Google, and Facebook. Now an innovation from Örebro has made its way over there.
Areas of research
- Artificial intelligence
- Autonomous systems
At AASS we perform multidisciplinary research in autonomous systems with a focus on their perceptual and cognitive capabilities and their integration. The study of these two central issues provides the scientific basis for the development and application of real autonomous systems. Our two major application areas are: development of autonomous professional vehicles in joint projects with world-leading companies as Atlas Copco, Volvo Construction Equipment, Linde Material Handling, Kollmorgen Automation AB; development of a range of autonomous-systems solutions for elderly care in domestic environments as in Ängen senior residence facility in Örebro run by Örebro municipality.
