Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program at Örebro University
Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program - WASP - Sweden's most significant individual AI research program.
About WASP
Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP) is a national initiative for basic research, education and faculty recruitment in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and software development. The goal is to contribute to Sweden taking an internationally recognized and leading position in AI.
The WASP program started in 2015 and will continue at least until 2031. With SEK 6.5 billion funding in total, it is by far the largest individual research program in Sweden. The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation contributes SEK 5.1 billion, with additional funding from partner universities and Swedish industry. All in all, this makes WASP Sweden's most significant single research investment in modern times.
Research takes place at the Swedish universities, Chalmers University of Technology, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Linköping University, Lund University and Umeå University. In addition, research groups at Örebro University, Uppsala University and at Luleå Technical University are also participating. The starting point is the combined competence in electrical engineering, computer technology and computer science.
WASP strengthens, expands, and renews the national competence through new strategic recruitments, a challenging research program, a national graduate school, and collaboration with industry.
WASP at Örebro University
