Discussion seminar: Social movements and political parties

What possibilities and problems are political parties facing in relation to social movements?  Do parties need social movements or are they rather setting limitations on party strategies? What do we know empirically about the interactions between movements and parties and what will the future likely bring considering the trends of today? Two informed introductions will stimulate our discussion: Jan Jämte on social movements and Martin Karlsson on political parties.
