MV Science Forum invites to a lecture with Assistant Professor Bartosz Wojciuk
Title: Urinary multi-omics in selected kidney diseases and kidney transplantation- what's the matter?

Multi-omic approach has been strongly attracting researchers and it has been constantly improving our complex understanding of civilization diseases. Metagenomic analyses have been extensively involved in multi-omic studies.  Since kidneys involvement is highly prevalent among civilization diseases, urine-directed investigations appear potentially promising area of mining for novel solutions. This is also true in immune-mediated kidney diseases and kidney transplantation. Kidney transplantation, although possibly recognized as a specific clinical state, in fact it represents a subset of chronic kidney disease with a spectrum of characteristic immune-mediated consequences such as rejection or recurrent infections.

  • What is currently going on in urine -omics?
  • What’s the significance of urinary metagenomics studies?
  • What is the added value of -omic studies on urine in kidney transplantation?

The lecture will address these issues presenting recent findings from urinary -omic studies. Some own results will be presented in the context of kidney transplantation. Possible general conclusions about local immunity in the urinary tract will also be proposed, based on
urinary – omics.

The lecture will be given in English.
