Om Brynjar Fure
Brynjar Fure är docent och forskare vid Örebro universitet. Han är utbildad läkare med specialitet i geriatrik, neurologi och internmedicin och arbetade sedan 2017 som överläkare i geriatrik och neurologi vid Centralsjukhuset i Karlstad. Från augusti 2020 var han klinisk lektor i invärtesmedicinska specialiteter i Region Värmland och överläkare i geriatrik deltid. Från och med våren 2026 arbetar han deltid på universitetet med handlednings- och undervisningsuppdrag
Han har tidigare varit professor vid Institutt for samfunnsmedisin, Universitetet i Tromsö 2015 - 2018, forskningsledare inom nationell Health Technology Assessment (HTA) vid Folkehelseinstituttet i Oslo och överläkare i geriatrik och neurologi vid Oslo universitetssykehus, Akershus universitetssykehus och Sykehuset Vestre Viken.
Disputation: Universitetet i Oslo i 2006 med avhandlingen "Improving the diagnostic and prognostic accuracy in acute ischemic stroke".
Efter disputationen har han varit huvudhandledare och handledare för ett flertal PhD-studenter som han hanlett fram till disputation , alla vid Universitetet i Oslo. Teman för dessa forskningsprojekt har i huvudsak varit vaskulära mekanismer vid utveckling av demens och mild kognitiv svikt efter stroke. I tillägg har vaskulär emotionell svikt och evidensbaserad praxis i sjukvården inkluderat internationella HTA-projekt och systematiska översikter varit teman för hans forskning.
Vid Centralsjukhuset i Karlstad och Örebro universitet är han för närvarande huvudhandledare för doktorandprojekt med fokus på kognitiv svikt och skörhet hos multisjuka personer > 80 år (Geriatrisk sektion, Medicinkliniken), konsekvenser av stroke hos personer > 85 år (Neurolog- och rehabiliteringskliniken) och cerebral hemodynamik vid mild kognitiv svikt och demens (Geriatrisk sektion, Medicinkliniken). I tillägg är han affilerad som bihandledare i PhD-projekt om munhälsa och stroke, Karlstads universitet.
