This collaborative project between Maria Westvall, Örebro University and Charles D. Carson University of Texas at Austin, USA, concerns issues about musical, ethnic and cultural diversity in relation to music education and musical performance within music institutions, primarily in Sweden and the US. We have found that our differing research and cultural backgrounds—a Swedish music education researcher and an American ethnomusicologist—provide us with a variety of tools with which to work in relation to this topic.

Collaborators: Maria Westvall (Örebro University) and Charles D. Carlson, PhD, Assistant Professor of Musicology/Ethnomusicology, Butler School of Music, Affiliated Faculty, Warfield Center for African & African American Studies University of Texas at Austin USA.
