Team information

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are a group of diseases characterized by severe chronic intestinal inflammation with pronounced negative impact on patients quality of life. The overall purpose of my research programme is to clarify the role of genetic predisposition in the pathogenesis of IBD, and to elucidate abnormalities of importance in the mucosal gut homeostasis. From a clinical perspective this knowledge can hopefully be used in the search for biomarkers for screening, diagnosis, monitoring disease activity and for prediction of disease course.
