Om Åke Strid

Forskargruppen inom Molekylär Biokemi bedriver forskning inom områdena bioteknik, enzymologi, strukturbiologi, vaccinologi, UV-fotobiologi, laseraktionsspektroskopi och växtfysiologi.

Med högklassig utrustning och engagerad personal är vi i framkant av forskningen i de projekt där vi tar del. Bland vår utrustning kan särskilt nämnas den unika högupplösta (0,4 nm) avstämbara lasern för UV-området (220-400 nm) med vilken vi kan utföra en rad fotokemiska och fotobiologiska studier på biologiska vävnader, lösningar av proteiner och andra biomolekyler, eller organiska och oorganiska material. Vi välkomnar särskilt förslag om samarbeten där vår laser kan komma till användning (This is an email address).

Vår forskning har lett till upptäckter och forskning kring exempelvis UV-fotoreceptorer, antioxidativa egenskaper hos vitaminer, proteintillverkning i växter, utveckling av vacciner och utveckling av läkemedel mot åderförkalkning. Flera av de produkter som blivit resultatet av forskningen är föremål för kommersialiseringssträvanden.
