Johan Kask är en marknadsföringsforskare knuten till Handelshögskolans forskningscenter INTERORG. Forskningen handlar om interorganisatoriska enheter såsom affärsnätverk, relationer mellan företag och marknadsföringskanaler. Hans speciella intresseområden är evolution av branscher och företag baserat på långa tidsserier, interaktion mellan företag, strategi, entreprenörskap och innovation. 

Branscher som undersökt i Johan Kasks forskning är t.ex. sport, musik, logistik, papper och energi.
