Information systems/informatics is an academic discipline that develops knowledge about digitalization and its conditions, meanings, values and consequences in individual, organizational and societal contexts. The discipline includes the study and development of digital practices, resources, artifacts and systems. Digital practices include the management, design, implementation and use of digital resources, artifacts and systems. (Swedish Academy of Information Systems, 2023)
Informatics at Örebro university develops knowledge about the design, management and use of information systems. For us, empirically based research is central, and it is usually conducted in collaboration with various companies or public authorities. Researchers in Informatics have a socio-technical perspective, which means an integrated view on new technologies and practices.
